Job analysis and evaluation

Job analysis is a systematic process used to identify the tasks, duties, responsibilities and working conditions associated with a job; and the knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics required to perform any specified job.

 Job analysis leads to a wealth of information about a specific job and is key to successfully recruiting and retaining staff.  By definition, it helps to identify the skills, knowledge and capability required to do the job and can be used as the basis for job evaluation, salary benchmarking and positioning within the reward structure.

A fundamental aspect of an effective job analysis and evaluation process is the accuracy of job descriptions.  We know that there is more to a well-defined job description than meets the eye.
